Introductory note:

This dissertation on the architectural work of Sanderson Miller was written in 1964, but has never been published. The original is in two volumes; the second containing the illustrations. These are deposited in the library of the Faculty of Architecture, Scrope Terrace, Cambridge. A further copy of the first volume is held at the Warwickshire County Record Office.

The publication in 2005 of the Dugdale Society's edition of The Diaries of Sanderson Miller of Radway makes considerable reference to this 1964 Dissertation. Bearing in mind its limited availability, it was felt it would be helpful to put the text on the internet. References to Miller's correspondence at Warwick (CR 125, 125B) should be rechecked as the collection has been partially renumbered since 1964, although this appears to be limited to the end of the series (ie. CR125B/900** onwards).

Much has been learnt since the Dissertation first appeared. The Dugdale edition attempts to bring the sources up to date and reference should be made to this (Catalogue 2007).
